about
Diane Debrovner is a middle grade author who writes for anyone who’s ever felt different, left out, or unsure where they belong. She draws from years of experience as Deputy Editor at Parents magazine, covering child development, education, health, relationships, and books. Her work has been featured on TODAY, Good Morning America, and CNN, and she’s hosted podcasts and panels on parenting and family life. She now helps nonprofits tell their stories to get the funding they need.
Her debut novel, Roxie in Color, coauthored with Stacy Cervenka, was sparked by her article, “What Blind Parents Want You to See.” Diane’s interest in developing characters started as a theatre kid. When she was twelve, she played a student at the Perkins School for the Blind in The Miracle Worker—and caught chicken pox during rehearsals.
She lives in New York City with her family and a dog who loves watermelon. Her middle name is Hope, which she has finally learned to appreciate.
